Welcome to Faith Examined.

Welcome to Faith Examined.

I hope for this page to be more about a commentary on past and current religion as it manifests itself in the world today, rather than about my own personal walk with faith and religion.

At times it will be positive, but more often than not I will be critical.  My knowledge of both the Bible, as well as theological and social history will be detailed in these posts.  I will also take a look at other worldwide religions, both their merits and their detriments.

In the end, I wish to educate the reader, hopefully in an understandable way as to not get too wordy.

I have always been critical of religion, so perhaps there is a personal cognitive bias I possess.  I am not afraid to admit that.  If anyone is truly honest with themselves, each human being possesses biases and prejudices that distort their understanding of the world around them.  Some more so than others.  Although taking this, human beings have the ability to release themselves from these biases and prejudices and need not remain chained to cognitive dissonance and cognitive biases.

Human beings can grow in both wisdom and intellectual awareness.  It depends on if one willing to do the work, the arduous work of educating themselves and seeking to become more aware of the world around them.  Are they willing to just read an author, listen to a pastor for weeks on end, watch videos on an internet channel or television shows that just prop up their own belief system or are they willing to look past these constructs that shore up what they hold dear?  Are they willing to look at other religions, other belief systems, other cultures not to justify the tenets of their own belief system, but rather challenge it?

Its up to the reader; how much are the willing to invest in understanding the "truth".

That word in and of itself is dangerous, contreversial and can be relative... is their some absolute and singular truth out there for humaity?  That remains to be seen, as we as human beings are more subjective than objective.  We will explore this, as well and many other subjects in "Faith Examined".

Thank you for reading and Welcome.
